Schmidt Rubin
Happy Firearm Friday!!
In the late 1800’s the Swiss Military decided to replace their Uetterli rifles with the new Schmidt Rubin Pattern. The Schmidt Rubin design made its way down to the cadet corps, introducing itself as the new cadet training rifle (the 1897 Kattengeuehr). This rifle was a single shot version of the Schmidt Rubin 1889/96 action, being a right handed straight pull action with the locking lugs being placed in the middle portion of the bolt unlike other models. Between the years of 1898 and 1927, they were just under 8000 of these rifles produced. They were in use until the 1950’s.
